Welcome to Gunnar's Pager
As you all know there is an enormous amount of shipbuilding info here at Dry Dock Models. However, all of you have even more info that will benefit our community.
We all like to know what is inside the box before we buy the kit, but sometimes this is difficult, especially when buying online.
I have made a list of some of the characteristics of some of the kits, like single or double planked, POF or POB, amount of plastic and metal in kits etc etc.
Some of this info can be found at the manufacturers’ homepage, but not all. The best source for this info is the member mass here at Dry Dock Models. If you have built any of the kits in this list, please let me know. This can be done in several ways:
1: If you have Microsoft Excel2003, you can download this file: info.xls Fill in the info of the kits you have and send it to me at gunnar.helnesREMOVE@gmail.com. Included in this file is also a short instruction on how to use it.
2: If you have an older version of Excel, you can use this file: Excel, info.xls
3: If you have Microsoft Word, or any other word processor, you can download this file: MicroSoft Word Info.rtf and return it to my e-mail when you have filled in the info.
4: If you don’t have Excel or Word (you can also use OpenOffice), you can just PM your info to me. Username is gunnar.
But please remember, the kit and kit maker must be widely available on the market today, if not, it will not be included in the list.
If you want to add lines with info you think is important, please let me know, and I’ll see what I can do. You may also disagree about some of the info, especially what type of ship the kits are, but things like this can be corrected underway. There are still some technical errors in the file, but they will be corrected eventually, please let me know if you find any. You can also write a short review about the kit, mostly telling what was bad/very bad, and good/very good, what you have to be aware of, was there enough material, did you have to buy something etcetc, I will include it.
I would also like you to tell me if you recommend it or not, and to who, beginners or more experienced, and finally, I would like you to sign it with your Dry Dock Models username.
If I feel it is to long, I will need to edit it without altering your original opinion.
I have included the manufacturers rating, if there is any.
And this is the main list for you to download: Kitcomp.xls
This file can not be edited, and do not try to send it back to me with updated info. It is far from complete yet, I have filled in all the info I could extract from the kit makers homepages, but the rest is up to you, the more data you give me about the ships that you have built, the more complete it will be. I will try to update it regularly, and post it here.
I say thank you to all the people who have sent me info so far, and I also send a big thanks to YardMaster for giving me space at Dry Dock Models for this file, and also for all the extra work this will mean for him.
